The SBI Officers' Association (Hyderabad Circle) has completed 4 decades of its
historic and glorious existence in the service of membership of Hyderabad
Circle. The Association was founded on 26th June 1965
initially as State Bank of India Supervising Staff Association, Hyderabad Circle
and Sarvashri
K.Sundara Ramayya and T.Panduranga Rao were the first ones to lead
the managerial class movement as President and General Secretary. Later,
Sri P. Kotaiah
and Sri V. Madhava Rao were the first elected President and General
Secretary respectively. The circle has the distinction of Sri P. Kotaiah
leading the Federation as its President. The Circle Association was affiliated
to All India State Bank Officers' Federation, a pioneer in the trade union
movement of Officers' Community in the Country.
The movement was to encounter challenges in the initial stages itself. The
refusal of the management in recognition of the trade union rights of the
Officers' Community and the exploitation of officers' community resulted in an
indefinite strike in the year 1969, the first managerial class indefinite strike
for 17 days. Its success changed the representative character of the officers'
organization. It paved way for emergence of industrial relations structure.
The IR machinery saw the evolution of workers right for bipartite discussions
and the HRD initiatives.
The Hyderabad Circle Association is proud to be part of this epoch making
event. Since, then Circle Association has been standing by the call of the
Federation and ensured success in all the organizational programmes/activities.
We are once again a part of the historic indefinite strike of 7 days from 3rd
April to 9th April 2006 - a golden chapter in any militant struggle.
Our Red Salute and Kudos to all of those who led the struggle from the front and
spread a message of solidarity and unity of workers across the country.
